Someone once coined the phrase, the Sandwich Generation, to describe some of us who are squeezed on one side by our elderly parents and on the other side by caring for our children. The word “sandwich” brings to mind something good; who doesn’t like a turkey club on wheat or a big, juicy hot pastrami sandwich? I think the Sandwich Generation is a misnomer. We should be called the Vice Grip Generation. Some times I feel pressed so hard from both sides; it feels more like a tool than a piece of soft bread.
